Family Meet - 2025

 



The Kunnamkott Family Meet 2025 was held on August 10, 2025, at St. Sebastian's High School Auditorium, Thenamkunnu, Thodupuzha.


The event began with a Holy Mass at St. Michael’s Church, Thenamkunnu, at 2:30 PM, offered by Rev. Fr. Rijo Michael Kunnamkottu, CSsR, the present Patron of the Kudumbayogam. This was followed by prayers for the departed souls of the family.

After light refreshments, the meeting commenced at 4:00 PM. Shri C.S. Joseph (Baby) from the Chiramugathu Branch presided over the meeting. Shri C.S. David from the Chiramugathu Branch welcomed the gathering, and the meeting was inaugurated by Dr. George from the Chiramugathu Branch, the eldest member present. During the inauguration, the newly participating members were also invited to light the ceremonial candle.

The presidential address was delivered by Shri C.S. Joseph, followed by the presentation of the Secretary’s report by Shri Sabu Joseph from the Pala Branch and the Treasurer’s report for 2024–25 by Shri Biju Sebastian from the Padinjarekara Branch.

Shri C.S. David also remembered the two family members who passed away last year: Smt. Lucy Varghese and Smt. Mariakutty Abraham.

Fr. Rijo Kunnamkottu conveyed his best wishes to the Kudumbayogam and emphasized the importance of holding the gathering annually.

The eldest member, Dr. George, a distinguished homoeopathic physician who served the community for many years, was felicitated with a bouquet presented by Fr. Rijo Kunnamkottu. His presence and participation in the meeting were warmly appreciated.

Dr. P.C. George delivered an informative lecture on essential first-aid measures in cases of drowsiness and stray dog bites. He explained that unconsciousness is often due to reduced blood flow to the brain and stressed that such individuals should not be made to sit or stand. He also advised thorough washing of dog bite wounds with running water and soap, followed by immediate vaccination, noting that vaccines from private hospitals are generally more effective than those from government hospitals.

Prof. K.M. Thomas spoke on the imminent recession, citing reasons such as increased U.S. export tariffs, and advised members to avoid unnecessary luxury spending and refrain from lending large sums of money.

The Adv. K.J. Joseph Memorial Award for outstanding performance in the 10th and 12th examinations was presented by Dr. P.C. George and his wife, Smt. Saly George, to Tissa Paul from the Palamkunnel Branch, Jeffry M. Binoy from the Kanjirathinkal Branch, and Enush Joseph Biju from the Pallikunnel Branch.

Shri Tomy Thomas (from Pallikunnel Branch) currently working as a professor at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, was congratulated on receiving his Ph.D. from VELS University, Chennai.

Smt. Sindu of the Padinjarekkara family and her husband, Shri Sabu, were felicitated on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary in 2025.

Prof. Leela Joseph addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of inviting the husbands of female family members to the family meet.

Shri. Biju Sebastian urged members to communicate any corrections or additions to the family directory. 

During the meeting it was also suggested that, since many members reside abroad, an online meeting could be arranged to facilitate their participation.

The meeting concluded at 5:30 PM with a vote of thanks by Shri Reji Kunnamkottu, followed by dinner. 

A total of 96 family members attended, making the event a memorable and meaningful gathering.
